Privacy Policy – Nonogram
Effective date: 2026-10-20
Nonogram is published by Northcell, a brand of Upamana Labs ("we", "us"). This policy explains what the app does, and does not do, with information.
The short version
- No accounts. There is no sign-up and no login.
- Works offline. Everything the app does, it does on your device without an internet connection. Your puzzles and progress are stored on your device, and in your own Android backup if you use one — we never receive it.
- We do not sell your data. We do not sell, rent or trade personal information.
- We receive nothing about you. We run no servers for this app and it has no analytics or crash-reporting service that sends data to us.
- Only two outside services. The only network activity comes from Google AdMob (ads) and Google Play Billing (the one-time "Remove ads" purchase).
What stays on your device
Your games. The puzzles you start, the marks you make, your times, hints used and mistakes, your difficulty statistics, the daily-puzzle calendar and your streak, and which lessons you have finished are stored on your device, and in your own Android backup if you use one — we never receive it. The app uploads nothing: nothing is uploaded to us. The daily puzzle is worked out on your device from the date; nothing is downloaded for it.
Settings. Your theme, text size and game settings, and whether you have removed ads, are kept on your device, and in your own Android backup if you use one.
Information we hold
We hold no personal information about you. There are no user accounts and nothing from the app is sent to us.
Advertising (Google AdMob)
The app shows ads from Google AdMob. To show and measure ads and to prevent fraud, Google's ads library collects and uses:
- your device's IP address, which may be used to estimate your general location;
- how you interact with ads and the app, such as app launches, taps and video views;
- diagnostic information about the app and the ads library, such as launch time and hang rate;
- device identifiers, including your Advertising ID and an app set ID.
Google handles this under Google's Privacy Policy, and it is sent over an encrypted connection. We do not receive this information.
- In the European Economic Area and the UK, the app asks for your consent through Google's consent form before showing ads. Your choice is kept on your device, and you can change it at any time in Settings, under Privacy options. That entry appears only where the consent form applies.
- You can reset or delete your Advertising ID, or opt out of ad personalisation, in your device settings (Settings, Google, Ads).
- If you buy "Remove ads", the app stops requesting and showing ads.
Purchases (Google Play Billing)
The "Remove ads" purchase is processed by Google Play. We never see or store your card or payment details. The app keeps a single yes/no value on your device to remember that you have removed ads, and "Restore purchases" asks Google Play, not us.
Permissions
The app asks for no permission to read your contacts, photos, files, camera, microphone or location. The permissions it does declare, mostly through Google's ads and billing libraries, are:
- Internet access and network state, to load ads, complete the purchase and check whether you are online.
- Advertising ID, used by AdMob as described above.
- Android ad-services permissions, declared by Google's ads library for Android's privacy-preserving ads features.
- Google Play billing, to make and restore the purchase.
- Wake lock and foreground service, standard permissions that Google's libraries use to finish short background tasks such as loading an ad.
Your choices, and deleting your data
Because we hold no data about you, there is nothing for us to delete. Information stored on your device is removed when you clear the app's storage or uninstall it; a copy in your own Android backup is managed in your Google account's backup settings. For ad-related data held by Google, you can use your Google account's ad settings. If you want to exercise any right you have under applicable law, including India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, write to hello@northcell.app with your request and we will respond.
Children
This app is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal data from anyone. Beyond the device identifiers the advertising library uses to serve ads, we hold no personal data.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the effective date above will change and the new version will be included in an app update.
